“Do you want to repair the old town hall or plant new trees at your local park? You can make it happen. We Hear You America is giving $10 million in financial and promotional support to towns across America.”
The Grant Writing class at Wallace County High School is soliciting your input for projects in Wallace County that are deserving of improvement, facelift, or repair. Please submit your suggestions to Inga Sloan or inga@usd241.org.
Suggestions received have included:
• Adding a wading pool, picnic area, water playground to Wa. Co. Pool
• Ambulance garage addition to the Weskan Fire House
• North Park Sharon Spgs.- picnic tables, playground equip., garden area
• Fort Wallace Rodeo Grounds- Bleachers and arena improvements
• Fairground improvements for the best fair in America
Last years program designated 110 cities, towns, and villages to receive funds and promotional support. “To date, the program has helped fund rebuilding a sea wall in Grand Marais, Michigan, helped build a new municipal pool in Genoa, Nebraska, funded a downtown revitalization program in Aurora, Illinois, expanded a public library in Ainsworth, Nebraska, replaced fire hydrants in Boley, Oklahoma, and funded a mentoring program for at-risk youth in Oakland, California.”
Once the project is selected, you will be encouraged to vote for the project online at readersdigest.com. Photos of our county will be uploaded and your comments about why Wallace County in the best place to live in America will be needed to gather support in the voting process. Please call the Sharon Springs School office at 852-4252 to leave your suggestions.
