Janet VanAllen Scholarship
Janet Cowles VanAllen graduated from Wallace County High School in 1960 and from Kansas State University. She married her high school sweet heart Cecil Leroy VanAllen and lived on the east coast were they raised two daughters. Janet passed away in her early 40’s from cancer. Her husband funded the Janet VanAllen scholarship with the Kansas State University foundation in 2007. This scholarship gives two thousand dollars each year to the recipient it is a two year scholarship that can be renewed once. The recipient must go to K-State, and must have good academic standing, good moral character, and community involvement to receive this scholarship. Previous recipients of this scholarship include Mara Sloan, Brett Keller. This year’s winner is Doyle Pletcher.
Ag Scholarship
The United Plains Ag scholarship was awarded to Trevor Bieker, and Doyle Pletcher. The United Plains Ag scholarship is a $250 dollar scholarship to any accredited school or Vo-technical school. This scholarship was do the first of April.
VFW Scholarship
The VFW scholarship was awarded to Caimen Bussen and Doyle Pletcher. This scholar ship is a $500 to $2000 dollar 1-4 year scholar ship. The VFW scholarship is dedicated to veterans and the children of the veterans. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) scholarship can only be given to children or grand children or other ancestors of veterans.
