Due to everyone having prior engagements on April 10 coaches Kevin Ayers and Larry O’Connor were only able to take seven people to State Power lifting. These seven people included freshman’s Eli Kuhlman, and Alex Basgall, sophomore Hallie Kuhlman, juniors Darrell Magwire, and Giselle Gonzalez, and Seniors Taylor Pierce, and Colton Baehler. Even though it was a small team they did very well with the boys getting 12th out of 53 schools, and the girls got 2nd out of 54 schools.
For the boys in the 123 pound weight division freshman Eli Kuhlman got 5th in bench with a weight of 150lbs, 5th in squat with a weight of 150lbs, and 3rd in clean with a weight of 160lbs. In the 140 pound weight division junior Darrell Magwire got 5th in bench with a weight of 185lbs, 4th in squat with a weight of 255lbs, and 5th in clean with a weight of 190lbs. In the 148 pound weight division freshman Alex Basgall got 6th in squat with a weight of 175lbs. In the 156 pound weight division Senior Taylor Pierce got 2nd in bench with a weight of 235lbs, 4th in squat with a weight of 265lbs, and 1st in clean with a weight of 250lbs. And last for the boys was Senior Coltin Baehler in the 181 weight division he got 6th in bench with a weight of 255lbs.
For the girls was Hallie Kuhlman in the 123 pound weight division and she got 1st in bench with a weight of 115lbs, 1st in squat with a weight of 200lbs, 1st in clean with a weight of 150lbs, and she also got 1st overall in her weight division with a total weight of 465lbs. And in the 148 pound weight division Giselle Gonzalez got 1st in bench with a weight of 120lbs, 1st in squat with a weight of 190lbs, and 1st in clean with a weight of 135lbs, she also got 1st overall in her weight division with a total weight of 445lbs.
Hallie Kuhlman also broke two state records in the girls 123 pound weight division one was in bench with the weight of 115lbs, the second in squat with a weight of 200lbs. Next Giselle Gonzalez broke one state record in the girls 148 pound weight division in squat with a weight of 190lbs. Coaches Kevin Ayers, and Larry O’Connor are proud of how the lifters performed but are disappointed that they couldn’t get more to come do to the ACT testing and other activities that were going on at that time.
